Jenell Walton

As Vice President of Marketing & Key Initiatives, Jenell Walton is responsible for the development of ULGSO’s brand awareness, marketing, public relations, communications and community partnerships.

Walton is a seasoned communications leader and former journalist with 17 years’ experience covering the issues in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio. Her time as an anchor at WCPO-TV 9 and reporter at WLWT News 5 and WDTN-TV 2 allowed her to see firsthand the successes and struggles of the region. She says her interviews with victims, residents, activists and Police during the civil unrest in Over-the-Rhine in 2001 gave her insight into the hearts, minds, and perspectives of all stakeholders.

“As a native Cincinnatian, I understand many of the nuisances that make the Queen City what it is today. I have interviewed people from all across the region, from the poor to the wealthy, to county, city and business leaders,” Walton said. “As a journalist, I always wanted to do ‘something more’ after sharing people’s pain, heartache, and joy with viewers. My new role at the Urban League now allows me to give back and help people break the cycle of poverty by working with business and community leaders.”
